MCS links to Government incentives and schemes, including the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) and the Feed in Tariffs.
The renewable energy association
The Renewable Energy Association has set up the REAL Assurance Scheme to guarantee consumers a high-quality experience. Membership of REAL highlights that a supplier abides by the high standards of the REA Consumer Code, which is backed by the OFT Office of Fair Trading. The REAL logo is an assurance of professional excellence.
chas (contractors health & safety) assessment accreditation
This standard was developed by the Health and Safety Executive in conjunction with local authority health and safety and procurement professionals. Public and private sector organisations use the accreditation as a benchmark of a business commitment to health and
safety. We are pleased that its compliance with all H&S requirements has been recognised and rewarded with the mark and hope that it encourages all involved in the industry to be vigilant in maintaining high standards.
Constructionline is the UK’s register of pre-qualified local and national construction and construction-related contractors and consultants. Our presence in the Constructionline database underlines official recognition of our business integrity, policies and procedures and serves as an assurance to prospective customers across Britain. national federation of roofing contractors
NFRC is the UK’s leading trade association for the roofing industry. Our membership of the NFRC assures potential customers that we have demonstrated our commitment to such areas as:
- High standards of health and safety
- High standards of training including a workforce equipped with relevant, respected qualifications such as City & Guilds or NVQs or the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS)
- Delivery of high-quality installations as evidenced by both membership of the NFRC and the TrustMark registration
- Innovative, environmentally responsible working practices including the adoption/development of new materials and technologies
TrustMark is supported by the Government, consumer groups and the building industry to enable customers to find reputable firms to perform contracts on their behalf. Displaying the TrustMark logo signifies that our expertise has been recognised in meeting standards required by the Government. Our customers can, therefore, be assured that Avonside is financially sound, technically proficient and committed to high standards of health and safety and customer care. In addition, we have initiated policies and procedures which, in many cases, exceed the standards required by the TrustMark scrutineers.
Competent Roofer is the prime Government-approved scheme for England and Wales that legally allows professional roofing contractors to self-certify for Building Regulations for refurbishment roofing work. This encompasses all roofing types for domestic, industrial and commercial properties and the scheme is open to all roofing contractors to apply. Many jobs undertaken need to be notified to and authorised by Local Authority Building Control (LABC) and in many cases, this includes work done to your roof. By using a CompetentRoofer member, property owners not only save time and money but also have the added reassurance that the work carried out meets the exacting standards of Building Regulations.
- Regulation – CompetentRoofer members are compliant and up to date with Building Regulations
- Reliability – CompetentRoofer members are professional contractors who are thoroughly inspected prior to acceptance and undergo regular inspections thereafter
- Reassurance – Domestic roofing works automatically receive a 10-year warranty. (Warranties are available for commercial/industrial works)
Safemark has been developed to help home builders meet their obligation to only appoint competent contractors and to help contractors to prove their competence. The scheme is a pre-qualification assessment designed around the requirements of Appendix 4 of the Approved Code of Practice to (CDM07). Competence is assessed against the criteria set out in Stage 1 including, amongst others, the requirements for contractors to have a health and safety policy, access to competent health and safety advice and to ensure employees are appropriately trained.

Clients can be assured that contractors and consultants who have been assessed and accredited by an SSIP member scheme have achieved the initial threshold of competence to provide specific services.
