History

Avonside Group was formed in 1987, originally trading as Lee Roofing the core business was the provision of roofing expertise for new house building, a sector which at that time offered rapid growth and expansion working for blue-chip developers across the country.

The company has had a number of owners since its inception and was acquired in the early 1990s by a PLC and expanded steadily throughout the ensuing 5 years. The business continued to develop and enjoyed penetration into other market areas, including notably social housing refurbishment.

In September 2003 Avonside Roofing was the subject of a management buyout led by Tony Burke, Group Managing Director, since then under his leadership, the business has undergone a major strategic programme of restructuring, training and investment and, as a result, has re-positioned itself and emerged as market leader in the roofing sector.

A core focus throughout this period has been a programme of continuous improvement, supported by the securing of various industry accreditations. This has allowed Avonside Group to apply its expertise to key market sectors of the roofing industry, including commercial, education, healthcare, local authority work, new build and refurbishment.

Expansion and acquisition saw the addition of more branches to the Group across the UK, adding to the extensive company portfolio. These include specialist flat roofing branches, as well as the environmentally-focused Avonside Renewables and Energy.

Today, Avonside Group is one of Britain’s largest integrated service providers, offering true coverage across the UK via its 45 strong branch network. It is committed to being a preferred supplier/ partner to house builders, local authorities, housing associations and specifiers.

We are proud of our progress to date but will continue to strive for improvement.
