Avonside Group has become Britain’s largest service provider to the housebuilding industry in recent years with Roofing, Energy and Renewables divisions ensuring we can offer a truly multi-disciplinary service.
Contributing to our complete service status is the relatively recent addition of a Plumbing Services division. The man responsible for taking Avonside Plumbing Services to the next level is Chris White, who has recently been named as Managing Director – Plumbing Division.
During his tenure at Avonside Plumbing Services to date, Chris has overseen the rebranding of newly acquired plumbing branches to the Avonside Group, including Cambridgeshire based M. Rogerson Ltd., managed a new branch opening at Burton in January of this year and hired new staff, such as Andrew Kirkland, Production Manager at Avonside Plumbing Services Burton.
Chris has accomplished all this whilst ensuring his team continue to perform to the highest standards. In fact, in 2020, the Avonside Plumbing Services Worcester branch were members of the site team that provided invaluable support to NHBC Pride in the Job Seal of Excellence and Medium Builder Regional Award-winning Site Manager, Aurie Cox, who also managed the Victoria Park development in Stoke-on-Trent for St. Modwen Homes.
Chris gained an HNC in Building Services from South Birmingham College before securing a job as an Estimator at PSS Midlands Ltd, a former reincarnation of Whites Plumbing Services.
He was Director of Worcester based, family-run firm, Whites Plumbing Services Ltd after working at the company since its launch in 2008. Whites Plumbing Services’ main customers included the likes of Persimmon Homes, Taylor Wimpey Homes, Bellway Homes and St. Modwen Developments. When Avonside Group acquired the firm at the end of 2019, Chris remained at the helm and, more recently, heads up the whole Plumbing Division.
Speaking about his recent appointment and work heading up Avonside Plumbing Services, Chris said: “I am delighted to have been named Managing Director of the Plumbing Division and thank Eddie for the opportunity it has presented to me.
“A key objective for us now is to now focus on delivering consistent quality throughout the division. We have introduced a quality manual along with four-stage certificates to help drive this. We are fully digitised and using our site-tracker App to help us capture every stage of our installation with photographs and notes of progress.
“One of the challenges that presents us, and most trades, is a lack of quality labour. However, with the journey, we are on we believe we will attract the right calibre of labour to deliver the standards we have set.
“We will look to expand our apprenticeship program later this year and try to bring through the next generation of plumbers.
“We will also be looking to open two new offices later this year to help grow the division.”
We look forward to seeing where Chris takes Avonside Plumbing Services next!
