Earlier this month we announced the appointment of Richard Bostock as our new Social Housing Business Director. Now we’re delighted to announce further good news for our Social Housing department; Avonside Roofing were rated number one in the LOCARLA Roofing Repair League Table!
The LOCARLA league table covers the period from February 2020 to January 2021 and ranks the UK’s roofing contractors and businesses based on total contract value. Produced by Housingnet, the monthly league table captures which contractors are picking up the most work. Other tabs in the table Avonside Roofing featured on include ‘Responsive Repair’, ‘Planning Works’, ‘Gas Servicing and Central Heating’ and ‘Construction’.
Housingnet collects data from over 2,800 Housing Associations and Local Authorities. The organisation also gathers information from their contractors and suppliers and compiles various league tables providing insight into housing, finance, people, contracts, procurement, development and planning.
Speaking about ranking number one on the table Richard Bostock commented: “I’m delighted to see Avonside Group heading the Roofing Repair League Table, setting a standard that the team will look to maintain and build on during 2021 and beyond.
“Our plans to improve our standing in the Social Housing sector are taking shape and gathering momentum as we engage with existing and potential clients to highlight the benefits that working with Avonside Group can bring.
“One such major benefit is our multi-discipline offering, with a Renewables division as well as a Roofing business. This is critical at a time when energy efficiency targets are, quite rightly, at the forefront of people’s minds and agendas.”
This positive news further highlights our commitment to secure and deliver a greater share of social housing refurbishment schemes.
Earlier this year the Group celebrated our bid for the £33.5m Sheffield City Council housing re-roofing programme being confirmed. Beating five other bidders to secure the notable contract, the award is believed to be one of the most significant single awards of its type in Europe, and is responsible for our number one position in the LOCARLA Roofing Repair League Table in January 2021.
The social housing project comprises repair work for approximately 5,000 properties over a five-year period, the removal of existing coverings, checking the structure and carrying out any required repairs including new under-felt, battens, tile/slate coverings, hips, ridges, valleys, renewal of eaves, fascia, verges, gutters and downpipes.
We are set to use Marley products during the first year of the programme, which also features the trial installation of solar PV and battery storage to some communal flats that will be contractor designed.
At the time our Group Commercial Director Chris Firth said: “This award comes as a tremendous boost and is a vindication of our decision to invest strategically in our Bid Team to enable us to play a greater part in the Social Refurbishment programmes that are available.”
