Congratulations to Marc Bell, Branch Manager designate at Avonside Roofing Edinburgh for being crowned our Employee of the Month for May!
“Marc continues to grow into the role and is dealing admirably with the additional responsibility that comes with the role. Branch sales are outstripping budget despite the seismic operational challenges this year has thrown at us all and Marc’s teams have recently helped deliver no fewer than four NHBC Quality Awards. In recognition of his progress, Marc will shortly transition from Branch Manager Designate to Branch Manager.”
NHBC Quality Awards aren’t the only awards Marc has helped Avonside Group secure. In 2019, Avonside Roofing won in the Roof Slating category of the NFRC’s Scottish Roofing Contractor of the Year Awards 2019, after winning the same award the previous year. The former roofing apprentice commented:
“I’m really pleased to be awarded Employee of the Month, a pretty high accolade considering the calibre of candidates within the Group. A real team effort in Edinburgh helps drive us forward in a positive fashion where we always aim to exceed expectations.”
After completing his roofing apprenticeship and following a few years running his own sites as a tradesman, Marc became a Supervisor with Southwest Roofing, then with Avonside Roofing Edinburgh. He was then promoted to Contracts Manager before stepping up as Branch Manager Designate, showing that hard work pays off!
A few years ago, Marc was interviewed as part of Total Contractor Magazine’s Contractor’s Corner feature. There, he shared that his one piece of advice about working and progressing in the roofing sector would be that every day is a school day. He suggested aiming to listen, learn, and soak up as much knowledge from the experienced people around you as possible as that knowledge will become useful one day.
He also revealed the most satisfying thing about his job is always looking at the finished product, especially where the project has either been technically demanding or labour intensive.
