The excellent workmanship of our Edinburgh Residential Roofing branch on the Dalbeattie Learning Campus project was recognised and commended when the team were awarded the Roof Slating award at the NFRC Scottish Roofing Contractor fo the Year Awards on Friday 26th October.
The roofing community in Scotland came together for a celebratory awards dinner and ceremony at The Principal Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow where the winners were revealed by event host, BBC Scotland TV broadcaster, Jackie Bird.
Each category was judged by a panel of independent expert judges sponsored by sustainable non-combustible stone wool insulation manufacturer, Rockwool.
Avonside Edinburgh provided slating, including vertical slating, leadwork, PPC flashings, Aluminium gutters and downpipes and Single Ply flat roofing for the unique Dalbeattie Learning Campus Project, which was completed alongside contractor Graham Construction.
The innovative Dalbeattie Campus replaces Dumfries and Galloway Council’s range of nursery, primary and secondary schools. You can read more about the exciting new Campus here – including how one child asked to be able to leave class by slide each day and had their wish granted!
Speaking about winning the award, Avonside Glasgow and Edinburgh Area Director, Chris McLean said: “We were delighted to receive this award in a category renowned for their high calibre of entrants.
“The project was technically challenging with a demanding programme. The team put in a great deal of effort to deliver a quality project and we’re very proud of this accolade.”
According to Roofing Today, the 2018 awards were the best attended since the event was established in 2008. You can find out who our fellow NFRC Scottish Roofing Contractor of the Year award winners were here.
We would like to say a special thank you to market leaders in natural slate, Cupa Pizarras who sponsored the Roof Slating Category at this year’s awards.
