We were thrilled to have a table at RCI Magazine’s virtual Pitched Roofing Awards on Friday 26th February. Why? Because we were shortlisted no less than SEVEN times in the awards and were fortunate enough to win in the ‘Best Use of a Solar PV or Solar Thermal System’ category!
The Pitched Roofing Awards ceremony was (virtually!) attended by our Executive Chairman, Tony Burke, CEO Eddie Stanton and other managing director staff, who all shared a drink in celebration! Actress, presenter and comedian, Jo Caulfield presented the ceremony.
Speaking about our achievements at the Pitched Roofing Awards our CEO Eddie Stanton commented: “Well done to all winners and finalists and a special thank you to our Avonside Group finalists & winners – representing the very best of what we can achieve. Thanks for all your efforts it’s appreciated.”
Our Bracknell Roofing Limited South East branch was shortlisted in the ‘Best Use of Roof Tiles (Concrete and Clay) for a Commercial Project’ category for their Gradwell Park residential care village project for Lawrence Baker Ltd in Chailey, East Sussex.
This large-scale development consisted of five blocks requiring a total of 760,000 Plain tiles to be laid. The care village comprised 53 two-bedroom and four one-bedroom apartments, along with some cottages.
Redland Breckland Brown Plain concrete tiles were used on the main roof, while Redland Heathland Autumn Plain tiles were used on the verticals. For the flat roofs, Alkorplan by RENOLIT was used.
Our Bracknell Roofing South East team overcame many challenges with this project, including:
Bracknell Roofing South East’s Gradwell Park residential care village project for Lawrence Baker Ltd.
Our Mid-Kent Roofing branch was shortlisted in the ‘Best Use of Roof Tiles (Concrete and Clay) for a Domestic Project’ category for their Shelleys project in Kent.
Mid-Kent Roofing carried out roof tiling, flat roofing and leadwork on this stunning and spacious private residence, known as Shelleys. Nestled in 15 acres of land in Sevenoaks, the property is home to a swimming pool, jacuzzi and cigar room, complete with three outbuildings, which include an entertainment hall, garage and gardener’s cottage.
A 3-colour mix of handmade Medium, Dark and Brown clay tiles manufactured by Traditional Clay Roof Tiles Ltd supplied by Raven Roofing Supplies were used.
Other products used included:
Shelleys roofing project in Kent by Mid-Kent Roofing.
We are also shortlisted:
Our Low Meadow project involved installing a new energy-efficient roof system and in-roof solar PV system as well as four solar storage batteries at a home in West Yorkshire.
The customer wanted a system that would make it more economical to charge his electric vehicle at his property. After having a vehicle charger installed, he wanted to make sure that the surplus energy generated from the solar PV system could be stored and used to charge his car during the evening.
Viridian Clearline Fusion solar panels were used as were Condron Senior Tiles. As the property was located directly under high power cables and a large pylon, there were some challenges!
