Established in 1988, Chestnut Homes enjoys a reputation for building high quality, well planned developments.
They build a range of new homes, from houses and apartments suitable for the first time buyers, through to five bedroom executive homes.
This project involved 108 plots of which 32 units were being built for Longhurst and Havelock housing association.
Messrs Chestnut Homes did much research into the detail and cost/benefits of solar PV. They explored the most cost effective way they could apply their client’s expectations to meet the Code for Sustainable Homes criteria. Their solution was to use Solar PV and Avonside Renewables.
Avonside Renewables, part of the Avonside Group Services, were able to provide even more detail including all the SAP, H&S, risk assessments and method statements to complete the works, but essentially provide the safe and secure knowledge that the new partnership was off to a good start.
As MCS registered installers we were also able to complete the entire installation from material supply, roof install, electrical installation and MCS commissioning, thus making for a very cost effective installation.

The systems installed ranged from 1.14 to 3.70kWp.
To obtain good aesthetics we used an “in roof” system that unlike others on the market allowed easy and safe installation access around the periphery of each panel, avoiding accidental damage to the panels and flashings system.
