This development of 35 Luxury detached villas nestling in five distinct clusters is built within the Colin Montgomery designed Rowallan Golf Course in Kilmaurs, Ayrshire.

The original Rowallan Castle date back to the 13th Century, the era of Robert the Bruce and William Wallace, and is under the guardship of Historic Scotland.

The estate was birth place of Elizabeth Muir, mother of Robert II, the first Stewart King of Scotland.

The Rowallan Estate was laid out in its existing form by Mungo Mure in 1513, and was home to the Campbells of Loudoun from c.1690 until the late 19th Century, when the “new” Rowallan Castle was added to the estate.

The estate was bought back by Niall and Louise Campbell twenty three years ago – Niall’s ancestors were the Campbells of Loudoun – and Niall started the planning process to develop the potential of the Rowallan Castle estate, and to restore the original castle.

Tucked discreetly behind the golf course you will find the exclusive gated development of 5 and 6 bedroomed homes, a beautiful community for those who value quality.

This high expectation of quality transcends all aspect of the build including the roof coverings! Luxury is the only standard at Rowallan Castle.

This unique development roofing material specification is for Cupa H14 400mm x 250mm natural slate. Cupa has been quarrying slate for more than a century; their slates meet or exceed all internationally recognised standards and the company’s chemical free production and land reinstatement programme make Cupa Natural Slate an attractive option in terms of environmental impact and sustainability.

The finish has been complemented by traditional lead works / detailing and traditional wet cast render finish to the external walls.
This was made all the more difficult due to the design of the roofs which encompass conical turrets, various different dormer details and pitch details as the photographic evidence indicates.

To accomplish the bespoke specifications and meet the exacting requirements, we used only our finest tradesmen on this project, whose exemplar skills ensured that we not only achieved but surpassed the desired finish required.

“This is some of the finest slating I have had the pleasure of looking at…….the works have been completed with a fine eye for detail by the skilled operatives from Avonside Roofing Ltd”
