Avonside Renewables were contracted to install a Solar Photo-Voltaic Generation System for The International Cooperative Wine Society Ltd in Stevenage. Having visited the site we proposed several options to the client based around cost, payback period and output that the panels would provide.

We were contracted to install 65 x 260W PV panels on a PVC membrane flat roof within 4 weeks. The 4 weeks when the install was required coincided with what happened to be one of the busiest 4 weeks in the UK PV history! As Avonside Renewables is part of Avonside Group Services we were able to call on the expertise of Avonside Roofing, one of the UK’s leading roofing contractors to ensure the original programme was adhered to and deadlines achieved.

Commercial businesses also want to cut their bills and obtain protection from rising energy prices, so it was a natural step to turn to photovoltaic panels.

An important factor that sets commercial solar panels apart from solar panels installed in homes is that businesses tend to use most of their electricity throughout the daylight hours. This means they are able to benefit largely from savings on their electricity bills by using the energy they produce thus save the additional 'Carbon tax' charged via their energy prices.

The roof installation was relatively straight forward; the location of the premises was a little more challenging. However, in an environmental sensitive area with a chill factor of minus 16 oC our skilled roofers from Avonside Roofing managed to complete the install within 3 days. It was down to the expertise of not only Avonside Renewables but also our partners that despite the adverse weather conditions the project was completed on programme.
