The Opportunity

Avonside Roofing Limited is part of the Avonside Group – the UK’s largest envelope service provider primarily to the new build housing sector. Alongside our Roofing division, we have our Energy, Renewables, and Plumbing divisions, employing over 400 people across almost 40 different sites across the UK.

We are in a really exciting stage of our growth and development with a strong pipeline of work, ambitions growth plans and health and safety have never been a more important agenda item for us.

To support us in ensuring that our commitment to all colleagues and visitors to any of our sites and branches is met, we are looking to appoint a new Regional Health and Safety Manager. Your role will be to understand and translate relevant legislation into working documents and guidelines, provide clear guidance on ways of working on sites, support Management in understanding their responsibilities, and ensuring that all colleagues understand what is required of them to ensure that we all go home safely each night.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that the business is equipped with all of the information that it needs to operate safely
  • Providing updates to legislation in a clear and simple to understand manner
  • Advising and producing appropriate policies, standard operating procedures and ways of working and ensuring these are embedded in the company, identifying and replicating good practice
  • Supplying statistics and information around key safety issues
  • Undertaking site visits, completing audits and providing feedback on corrective actions
  • Supporting in embedding a safety culture across every area of the business
  • Creating and delivering toolbox talks
  • Maintaining accurate records

What You Bring

The list below is desirable – but we are also keen to talk to candidates who can demonstrate an interest in Health and Safety who are looking to make that first step and we will offer training and development to facilitate that.

  • Ideally two years’ experience in a similar role
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation
  • Previous experience in a construction environment
  • Excellent IT skills, including Word and Excel
  • The ability to prioritise and manage your own workload
