The Opportunity

Avonside are delighted to be recruiting for a Finance Director to join our Heywood office. This role will provide a business partnering service to the roofing division to facilitate the production of accurate and timely consolidated financial reporting, effective financial control and compliance, and support the delivery of the divisional budget and strategy.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Provide business partnering and strategic support to the Regional Directors of the roofing division
  • Ensure effective financial control and governance over the division as a whole and by branch
  • Provide leadership, coaching and development to all team members
  • Prepare best in class financial and non-financial reporting for presentation at monthly commercial and regional reviews
  • Support the Regional Directors in developing strategy for the division
  • Ensure the delivery of accurate, timely consolidated accounts with pertinent commentary
  • Monthly review of balance sheets on a consolidate and branch by branch basis
  • Develop and implement effective measures for the management of working capital including stock, debtors and payables
  • Present the findings to Working Capital performance review capturing actions and driving improvement
  • Support the Regional Directors on new job costing and profitability improvement initiatives
  • Prepare quarterly forecasts, including identifying upside/risk, commentary, areas for improvement, and appropriate actions
  • Full line management responsibility for team, including recruitment, retention, regular reviews, workload monitoring and performance management
  • Abide by the Company’s Health, Safety, Environment and Quality policies, procedures and statutory requirements, and undertake such health and safety training as may be required
  • Participate in any mandatory/required training activities as relevant

What You Bring

  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/ACMA)
  • Currently working as a divisional Finance Director or with a minimum of 3 years at Financial Controller or equivalent level
  • Multi-site operational environment
  • Preparation of consolidated accounts
  • Experience managing/motoring a finance team
  • Demonstrable capability to introduce, monitor and maintain financial controls and compliance
  • Prior construction experience would be advantageous but not essential
