The Opportunity

We are delighted to be recruiting for a new SHEQ Advisor to join our Milton Keynes site on a permanent basis. This position will be fundamental in supporting Group Objectives to promote safe working practices across our Roofing, Energy and Plumbing divisions.

This is a great opportunity for a confident professional that is well versed in communicating/managing relationships across all levels, from onsite skilled workers through to senior stakeholders and external auditors/enforcing bodies.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Completing internal branch and site audits.
  • Conducting site safety visits and inspections.
  • Carrying out accident investigations or supporting Contracts Managers and Branch Managers to carry out Accident Investigations.
  • Able to create Construction Phase Plans for planned projects where we will be the principal contractor under CDM Regulations.
  • Able to produce Risk Assessments, Method Statements, Safe systems of work as required for branches.
  • Review COSHH Assessments and Risk Assessments and other management system documentation when required.
  • Influence Site Managers and customer Health & Safety Managers to comply with Group H&S requirements for our site operations.
  • Create and deliver CPD Sessions for Avonside employees on relevant H&S subjects connected to our operations.
  • Apply H&S principles across all group divisions to drive the right culture within the business.
  • Complete SHEQ reports for audit compliance, accident statistics and subcontractor compliance.
  • Assist new staff or business additions to integrate into the Avonside Integrated Management System.
  • Develop policies and safe working procedures in conjunction with the Group SHEQ Manager to create a continuous improvement culture across the group.
  • Maintain a good level of commercial awareness where we may need to balance our performance against the viability of the works being carried out.

What You Bring

  • NEBOSH
  • Previous experience in a SHEQ role in the construction sector
  • Internal Auditor
  • SEATS
  • CDM Awareness
  • ISO Standards awareness for 9001:2015, 14001:2015 & 45001:2018 with experience of developing and maintaining the associated Integrated Management System behind them.
  • Experience with all Microsoft office systems software packages; Teams, SharePoint, Word, Excel etc.
